About Iraq Natural History Research Center and Museum
The Iraq Natural History Research Center and Museum, University of Baghdad(http://nhm.uobaghdad.edu.iq/) was established in May 1946 under the name: Iraq Natural History Museum, University of Baghdad. Currently, it includes four departments: Entomology & Invertebrates, Ichthyology, Vertebrates and Botany & Ecology. It aims to preserve and storage collections of animal, plant specimens and geological samples; some of them are artistic and attractive for visitors in museum exhibits. It is also concerned with conducting research and studies in Natural History; as well it contributes to the identification of samples for students and other researchers. INHM has a specialized library that provides journals, books, and a database about natural history, as well, it has a scientific biannual issued Bulletin of the Iraq Natural History Museum.
Iraq Natural History Research Center and Museum has a great role in serving the community through the conducting of scientific seminars, workshops and specialized training courses, etc. for universities and various institutions.
Goal of the conference
Due to the great expansion in the environmental sciences and the several stresses that facing the biodiversity and wildlife, it has become necessary to conduct the studies that focus on this field. Such studies giving a description of the reality and the opportunity to get acquainted with the latest developments which related to biodiversity and wildlife safety. This goal can be achieved through the exchange of experiences between researchers. Contributions of the researchers in the natural history and wildlife which highlight the important role of the Iraq Natural History Research Center and Museum in conservation and protection of wildlife that may prompt the economy of our country in the future.
